Does life=fiction?

(picture taken from http://www.adamsavage.com/images/pix/mythbusters.jpg)

Have you all ever wondered after watching a TV program, be it educational, entertaining or otherwise influence the choices that you pick later in life?

For example, some people dream to be superheroes and go for cosplays but that is not the point of this post.

I'm referring to the TV drama series or Discovery channel programs which are much more down to Earth. Mythbusters is one example which glamorize the field of science which is boring initially but pays off in the end with big booms.(and clash,bang,kaboom....)Thanks to the cast of Mythbusters for making science all so interesting.

I' sure that those who are reading this have heard of House MD, Scrubs, or Grey's Anatomy(if not you just don't watch TV enough) and wonder 'Hey, if life was like that I could easily be a doctor ...' or something like that.

But the cruel thing is life is complicated so that it can look simple. Why I say that is because if life was not complicated, the PS3, Xbox and the all time favourite PC would not exist as it is today and we will still live in the 'Pong' era. Watch this video.(Not mine, watch and understand. If you can survive playing this all day and find this entertainig,I salute you!XD)

An example where life mimics fiction.(sorta)Hope you enjoy it.

Malaysian+Earth Hour

Something to share about Earth Hour.I really love the idea that turning off the lights for an hour can help reduce the CO2 emission on our planet Earth. But it really makes you ponder about what happens when the lights are out. Here's one interesting view from a comic strip in the Star Malaysia that explains why some people do not turn off the lights.Enjoy!

Protect your computer!!!!!!

The rise of technology happened quite recently as social networking, the internet and instant messaging became popular in Malaysia. No thanks to TMnut which I am still using as it is still the cheapest in Malaysia anyways.

Compare to UK and you will either admire the ISP in Malaysia or laugh at us for paying so much for such low speeds.Plus. they throttle bittorrent until it is constantly >10kBps.

However, something else also followed with this trend. This is the rise of the worms, viruses, spyware, adware, trojan horses, root kits to name a few. I'm not going to explain them as you can google it.

With so many thing trying to attack your comnputer and turn them into mindless zombies which send out spam which I'm sure most people have received.
The first way to protect your computer is to have your firewall which is essentially setting up guards to protect your gates to your computer called ports. Some are available as software or built into the router.
Some good recommendations which are free are ZoneAlarm and Outpost.

Next is the antivirus software which is used to remove viruses, worms and trojans which can slow down your computer and steal data. Some recommendations are AVG antivirus free edition, Mcaffe Avert stinger and Avira antivir to name a few.

Thirdly, is spyware and adware removal tools. They are similiar but different than viruses as they are more specific either steal info or pop up ads.
Some recommendations are spybot search &destroy, lavasoft ad-aware,javacoolsoft spywareblaster.

For those of you who worry whether the site you visit is safe there is mcafee site advisor which is quite good at showing which sites are safe.

And also change your browser to either opera or firefox. They are much better than internet explorer and have add-ons that can you can use to customize them.

I hope that you find this useful. If your computer is infected, try removing them first, then try to use system restore. If this fails try to get help. Reformatting is the worst case scenario.
All of the things mentioned can be found at www.majorgeeks.com which have more stuff but check whether they are free first before downloading. Thanks for reading.
